Introduction

Hello there! I am E, a Homelessness Support Worker studying BA (Hons) Health and Social Care. I have 4 years of experience with different client groups and a keen interest in sociology, social inequalities etc. I have created this blog to aid my learning and share experiences and insights (as the name suggests) into this sector, and to highlight some issues we face as health and social care organisations. I feel our society has adopted a very selfish and individualistic attitude towards social disadvantages. There is absolutely valid reasons for this, compassion fatigue is extremely real and can be so upsetting, and with so much going on every day in the news and in our communities we feel safer to simply shut off from it all. However, for the most vulnerable and misunderstood this is causes stigma and creates harmful barriers to accessing support.  So, among many other things, I hope for this blog to make people question what they think when they see a rough sleeper or the people ...
